Deacons

In 1 Timothy 3:8-13, the Apostle Paul provided Timothy the qualifications for a deacon. A deacon is designated to serve with the overseers/bishops/elders of the church in a variety of ways.
Christians who have served well, meeting the qualifications listed below, gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus.
Qualifications for Deacons:
- reverent
- not double-tongued
- not given to much wine
- not greedy for money
- holding the mystery (the deep truth) of the faith with a pure conscience
- must first be tested and found blameless (then let them serve as deacons)
- their wives must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things
- the husbands of one wife
- must rule their children and their household well
